1981, Whittier, CA.
It is September 2016 and the kids are off to a new school year, new classroom, new teachers, and new clothes. I am trying to figure out what new clothes I need/want. I am about to delve into Pinterest, which might take me off into another tangent of organizing, gardening or DIY woodworking, so I will have to stay on task.
My struggle is finding what I like as it appears on someone else or as of currently how it looks in a photo of neatly folded jeans, a watch, shoes, a belt and a square of a shirt under the title “fall men’s fashion.” I can’t help but always be drawn to boy’s and men’s’ clothes.
I remember being in 5th grade and having to do a report on Mexico (I am still in contact with my teacher by the way: attachment). We had a budget for all the travel expenses including clothing. I remember thumbing through the Sears catalog and piecing together my wardrobe. It was 1983 and my fashion sense if that is what you can call it, has not changed on bit. Then it was OP (Ocean Pacific) and Lightning Bolt t-shirts, Levis 501 jeans and Vans shoes. Now, it is jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops.
Not much has changed in last 35 years. I am still wearing boys’ clothes!
